Many of us, today, have laptops, and, well... you have to admit most laptops don't have very good sound quality. If you're looking for a product that looks nice, is compact, and has reasonably good sound quality for a small price, I think I got just what you want. Testing:

I will test the speakers by listening to music, watching a movie, editing a video, and playing a video game. Then I will examine the highs, mids and lows to see how it performs in these areas.

High (Treble):

For high notes, such as; cymbals, harmonizing vocals and high noted stringed instruments the BoomBoom did a fairly well done job of balancing smooth treble with sibilance. Although at some points the speakers do seem to clip. To sum it up; these aren't the best speakers I have heard for balancing treble, with the mids and lows. But really it's impressive for such a small and affordable package. I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10 for it's highs.

Mid (Mid-Range):

So on to the mid-range. The mid-range is basically the lead vocals, guitar, and rhythm guitar. I found in comparison with its lows and highs, the mid-range really brought it down. The vocals, guitars, and drums seem to kind of all just mesh together. It really makes it a not very pleasing experience for the fine tuned ear. Overall, I'd give it a 6 out of 10 for mid-range.

Low (Bass):

I must admit again I thought that the lows would be terrible; thinking, that in my opinion, that puny little 4 drivers had no chance of putting out any kind of decent bass notes. But, as I listened to it, I realized how prejudice I had been. It is one thing to hit low notes but if bass doesn't have the punch behind it, the overall experience loses consistency and credibility. The BoomBoom really shines in this aspect. I was extremely impressed with the speed and accuracy, the drivers hit the notes for such a small package. But, of course, though this is nothing in comparison to a home theatre subwoofer. It's just unexpected from such a small package. You can really hear the individual double kicks hitting, and the long bass drops of Dub step seem to just ring down... and down.. and down... the climactic raise to another tightly coiled tri-beat. Overall, I will give this a 9 out of 10

Conclusion:

Overall, I found that this product is perfect for replacing your laptop speakers for listening to music or watching movies. But when it comes to gaming or video editing, it just doesn't suffice. You just don't get the needed stereo sound for being aware of what's behind you or to your sides. And it doesn't give you that needed crisp sound for making sure you've made the correct edit. I also thought it would've been a good idea to have it run off batteries so you could attach it to your MP3 player. But, don't get me wrong, it's definitely worth the money and surprising for what you get.

Would I recommend this product? Well, I'll be honest if someone asked me for a good laptop speaker this probably wouldn't be first on my list. Although, if you're on the road a lot or just moving around the house with your laptop, this would be an excellent product.

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Compact
  • Beautiful design
  • Excellent highs and lows
  • 3.5mm audio cable
  • 4 drivers

Cons:

  • Gloss finish is instantly covered with fingerprints
  • Flimsy speaker cover/stand
  • Bad mids
