Testing: For testing I will be doing a movie, gaming, and music test and I will be speaking about the range the headphones have as well as there over all quality. The headphones will be given a score out of 10 to some up the over all performance for each section.
Movies: 9/10 As always I used Appleseed for the movie testing. Apple seed has a great range of sounds because it is a CGI movie the sound department has to work extra hard to fill in the gaps. Explosions, shell casing drops and gun shots range very clear. The scraping of metal and the shuffle of feet were incredibly crisp. The iFrogz EarPollution DJ Style Hustle Headphones were very isolating for movies compared to the on ear style of the fallouts making for a much more immersive movie experience. Over all watch the movie was pleasant and impressive with the Hustle headphones I also liked how comfortable they were compared to the fallouts.
Gaming: 8/10 Although these aren’t 5.1 headphones, my Asus Xonar sound card emulates a 7.1 experience using only regular headphones. The combination of the two worked very well I was surprised that it was only one 50mm driver per ear was dispensing the seemingly room filing sound that was produced. For gaming quality I like to use creepy thriller type games like bioshock in order to feel the full effects of scurrying and scratching running in front and behind you. Even though the The iFrogz EarPollution DJ Style Hustle Headphones were not design for gaming they performed very well. Using them in other FPS’s showed the clarity of gun fire in the game very well and made it easy to pint point opponents. Again I was surprised by the performance. Music: 9/10 Music is the reason you buy headphones like the iFrogz EarPollution DJ Style Hustle’s if a headphone says DJ it better be able to step up and perform very well. To fully test these headphones I went to classics and modern legends to get the full range and I tested these things for a good week of listening so they were well broken in by the time testing rolled around. I have easily clocked 96 hours of burn in on these already. I decided to hit up some jungle brothers because these are “DJ” headphones after all. I also went with some Yo Yo Ma, pennywise, Ti, the game, Yael Naiem, and to round it out some Nightwish and Tenacious D. Over all the bass was not bad at all but not quite what I would expect from a 50mm driver. On the flip side the speed response from the headphones was a lot better then I would expect a 50mm driver to perform. Punk music performed very well with every bass and snare hit achieving a clear and crisp hit while not blending the tons to make it sounds monotone. I must say Yo Yo Ma’s cello sounded incredible on these the deep bass rang nice a clean and actually rumbled the headphones quite well. Over all they did a really good job when it comes to music. Let's see the final thoughts:
