While this is not something that we would normally review, we instantly knew that we had to get one of these after seeing The Neo Cube in action. The best way to describe The Neo Cube is fun, extremely fun. With over 250 small spherical earth magnets there are nearly limitless possibilities. Normally we don’t recommend something in the beginning of a review, but this was so much fun that I have to say that this would be great gift for almost everybody. Whether you like mind puzzles, used to or still do play with Lego’s, or your just a big man child, The Neo Cube is for you. Now let’s take a closer look at what makes the Neo Cube so much fun. WARNING: Playing with The Neo Cube may cause Sevier loss of productivity, you have been warned.

Produced by: Neo Cube

Price: $30 (For Cube-Tastic Edition)

Closer Look

Upon receiving The Neo Cube I noticed that it came in simple packaging that most toys come in. While not being like most toys, these rare earth magnets display one of my personal favorite basic geometrical shapes I like to build with. The Neo Cube *Alpha* kit also comes with the Mini Cube and the Micro Cube to expand or to replace lost or wore down parts of your cube.

Now let’s take a look at what these little guys can do:

Test:

Well there is no real way to test The Neo Cube other than to play with it. It takes a little time to get used to some of the tricks such as using the magnetic poles to you advantage, but once you get the hang of it, this is when the real fun starts. At this point you can now start by trying different patterns or by trying to build small sculptures out of a variety of geometric shapes. Each of us (the reviewers) received a Neo Cube and we have had races to see who could build their large 6x6x6 cube the fastest or to see who could build the most interesting object out of them, I build a case for the Mimobot that I am sure would cause data loss. Hopefully you already know this, but I still have to emphasize. KEEP AWAY FROM COMPUTERS, EXTERNAL HARDRIVES, AND JUMP DRIVES.

Now with that out of the way lets get to my final thoughts:

Conclusion:

Well if you haven’t figured it out by now, I really enjoyed The Neo Cube. With hour of nearly limitless option to play and experiment with, I still am waiting for the novelty of playing with, and building it to wear off. From puzzle freak's to you man child's that still likes playing with Lego, this would be a great buy.

Would I recommend this? Did you no read this? Do you really have to ask? I loved it. While leaving my finger tips slightly stained I had a blast playing with my Neo Cube, and I plan and enjoying them until they turn into magnetic dust. With nearly limitless options and possibilities, trying to find new patterns and shapes to build, I don’t think the fun of The Neo Cube will ever dwindle for me. Now if you will excuse me I am going to go play with my new super magnets.

Pros:

  • Fun, Extremely Fun
  • Great mind Exercise
  • Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, and Even Years of Fun

Cons:

  • Small and Easy to Loss if Some Get Away
  • Horrible For Electronics

I love it and hate it. It was the cause of many late reviews after we got this
thing. It is a time sucking beast of funness
