Testing: I first connected the Yidsun SPK-800 to a Blackberry Storm to see how easy it would be to connect the two devices, and second to test its functionality as a hands-free speaker box. To sync the two devices together was incredibly easy, all there was to do was to turn on the Yidsun SPK-800 and then set the Storm into search mode, and then both devices automatically connected. Next I checked how well it handled music from the phone and found that I was quite amazed. The sound quality was better than I thought it would be and much better than just listening to the music play from the phones speaker. I thought that these would be no more than a louder version of the speaker that’s already built into the phone. I was quite wrong. While you’re not going to swap these out for your home theater speakers, or even as get rid of your desktop speakers for your PC, they make for a great option when it comes to getting your music out of your phone and to share it with others or even just to pack about as you move from room to room. While listening to my music, it suddenly paused and let me know that there was an incoming call, and with a single touch I could answer the phone and instantly enter the conversation. From my end I found that the voice that came out of the speaker was very crisp, clear, and easy to understand, (This call happened to come from a land line and I didn't get to see how well a call from cell phone came in) After hanging up my music continued as normal. I then took it over to a friend’s to see how the conversation sounded from the other end (Again this was on a land line). While being on the phone end of the conversation I found that conversation was almost the same quality as it had earlier from the speaker, however I did find that the voice was slightly muffled, although I do. The slight dampening of the voice I put off on the poor placing of the mic, which is located on the bottom of the speaker box. When I say that the voicce sounded muffled, I would have thought that they where on a cell phone using a builtin speaker phone. Next I connected the speaker to my PC to see how well it worked for as an external audio device. I thought that this would be an appropriate test for if someone used their laptop as a media center and wanted better speakers than the ones in the laptop. For this I wanted to see how it well it could handle the audio from different forms of media. Of course I started with some music while I cleaned up, and was really impressed by these small, unassuming speakers. I found that like I said earlier you might not what to start swapping out your home theater system with these speakers, they did prove to be a fairly good sounding set of speakers. After a little cleaning I decided I should sit down and see how well they would work for if someone used them to watch some TV or a movie from their Laptop. For this I have to say I was impressed. While for more action oriented videos it was a little lacking, for every other genres I found that it worked quite well, bringing much more clarity then I thought I was going to receive. After this, I decided to connect my Voiis Stereo to my PC and start sending music via Bluetooth while I moved about cleaning some more to see what kind of range this little device had. For this I have to honestly say I was amazed. In the past I often found that soon after breaking the line of sight between Bluetooth synced devices that I would lose my signal, but these little speakers showed me another thing or two. Between the Voiis Stereo and the Yidsun SPK-800 I was able to make it about 45’ away, break the line of sight, and make it to the main floor of my house. Now let’s get to my final thoughts:
