Conclusion:

Personally I was quite happy with the overall performance that was achieved by the Seagate Barracuda XT. It was fast easy to setup and very robust as far as features go for a lower $200 price point. The 3 platter, 1TB-per, design Segate has achieved is more than just a little impressive. I hope to see a lot more innovations like this come out of the engineering department at Seagate. They have come a long way since the issues with the older Barracuda models design.

Would I recommend this product? Yes, it is better to shell out the cash for one of these then to delete the chubby girl lawyer show and make your wife or girlfriend mad at you. This is a great product with fast enough speeds to easily work as both a back up and a standalone drive. If you really have money to burn get for a set up a raid 10 and you will have more speed and redundancy then you can shake a stick at.

Pros:

  • Price
  • SATA 6GB
  •  7200RPM
  • Tons of Space
  • Relatively Quiet
  • Well Built

Cons:

  • None Really, Although I would love to see a Momentus XT 3TB 3.5 model some day
