Military grade products have always been of high quality. PC Cases like the HAF scream military grade and ruggedness. What about other PC hardware? You will be hard pressed finding a gaming grade pc component that will truly match the style of the HAF. That is was the case until now, the designers at In Win came out with a rugged line of PSU’s known as the Commander Series. The In Win 850W Commander Series Gaming Power Supply we will be reviewing for you today is a very impressive mix of pure voltage horsepower and the impressive design of a military anti-personnel unit. Let’s see if all this marketing hype is true to form or a baby sheep in wolves clothing:

Provided by: In Win

Price: $225

Closer Look:

The packaging for the In Win 850W Commander Series Gaming Power Supply is very straight forward military camo and specs and feature on the back. I think it is very effective packaging for the theme that In Winn was going with in this case so the lack of a packaging window to see the product isn’t a draw back because PSU’s are too heavy to have packaging windows.

Included with the In Win 850W Commander Series Gaming Power Supply is: 1 x 20+ 4 pin connector, 1 x 4+4 pin connector, 7 x Molex, 8 x Sata, 1 x 4 pin floppy, 4 x 6+2 pin connectors. Also included is a carrying case for the cables and the psu. I see the usefulness of the cable carrying case but what are you really going to do with a PSU carrying bag? Either way they are included and you can use them for whatever you like after your purchase so bonuses are always welcome. Also included are the manuals, screws, and zip ties you will need for your PSU.

The In Win 850W Commander Series Gaming Power Supply is not 100% modular like the Coolmax 950W we reviewed in the past but it is however the next best thing. The only cable hard wired to the In Win 850W Commander Series Gaming Power Supply is the main 20+4 pin connector you will need for every board type you use. The fan on the In Win 850W Commander Series Gaming Power Supply is more than sufficient for cooling the PSU to ensure optimal performance.

The modular design is very simple and nicely laid out on the back of the In Win 850W Commander Series Gaming Power Supply. This ensures easy cable management and you can pick and choose the best ports for your particular system.
