Testing:
Normally I would be testing the PSU against others but in this case all of my other power supplies are in a much higher price bracket that the Nexus 430w Compact ATX Quiet Power Supply and of course out perform it considerably so it would not be a fair testing platform. Because of my systems specs it will be putting a considerable load on this PSU and we will see how it performs under extreme conditions. You of course will not be having this problem if you are using a lower end HTPC platform or office base desktop which is what quiet PSU’s were designed for. We will be doing an idle and a load test as well as a stationary power supply tester test to see the full range of fluctuation in the 3.3, 5, and 12.1v rails.
Although the 3.3 voltages were a bit off the voltages ramped up as load increased which is still a good feature for system stability. While I would prefer steady power under powering a rail by a small amount is much better then spiking power. During the entire test I couldn’t hear the fan at all. A “.1” voltage differential on the other rails is nothing to worry about a tenth of a volt isn’t going to cause you that much of an issue. Let’s see the final thoughts.
