Let's move on to the testing:
Test Setup:
- CPU: Q6600
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
- Memory: 2 x 2GB Kingston
- OS: Windows XP Home SP3
- Video Card: ATI Radeon EAH 4550
- Power Supply: Thermaltake Litepower 450W
- Case: Cooler Master Storm Series Scout Chassis
Testing:
For testing I will be doing a simple heat test to see how well this cooler does under pressure. To start I will be installing the cooler and then after some time of running idle I will be recording the average temp at the time. Then I will run the Prime-95 Burn-in test and after an extended period of time I will again record the average temp. I will be doing this test with some other gaming CPU coolers, I will be putting the Thermaltake V1 up against the Evercool Buffalo and the Cooler MasterHyper TX3. The temp in the room will remain a constant 22°C (72°F) to ensure a fair test.
| Cooler | V1 | Evercool Buffalo | Cooler MasterHyper TX3 | |||
| State | Idle | Load | Idle | Load | Idle | Load |
| CPU | 15°C (59°F) | 20°C (68°F) | 18°C (68°F) | 27°C (86°F) | 17°C (62°F) | 28°C (87°F |
So from this we can see that this is a great cooler. While the other two coolers might not exactly be for gaming, they still did well. Over all the Thermal Take V1 CPU Cooler did a great job even among other gaming quality CPU coolers that we have tested in the past. And visually this cooler deffinetly stood out from the crowd. Unlike most coolers the heat fins of this CPU cooler are made entirely out of copper making for a very eye catching look, and with the semi-clear free floating, blue LED fan all you see are a large mass of copper fins with a large blue blur, spinning at high speeds.
Let’s move on to my final thoughts:
Conclusion:
Simply put I liked this cooler, to expand, I liked it a lot, and can you blame me. Between amazing good looks, and the sheer cooling power it would be hard not to like it. To be honest though I did have one small problem with it, and it’s not a problem with the cooler itself it’s just monster coolers in general, and that’s just its sheer size. With large coolers like this, I sometimes have trobles installing them, especially in bottom mounted PSU cases. Other than this, this is a great cooler with almost no flaws.
So in the end would I recommend this cooler? Hells ya I would. As mentioned with the solid copper heat fins, and the stunning blue LED fan that spins between the two sets of fins makes for a very eye appealing cooler. Then when backed by the sheer cooling power, which by the way was one of the best we have seen, this makes for a great combo. Also knowing that, in my opinion, Thermal take makes a great product you know that its hard to go wrong.
Pros:
- Looks Great
- Amazing Cooling
- What Else Do You Need
Cons:
- Might Be To Tall For Some Cases
