Testing Setup:

Master:

  •  Asus P6T SEX58 Motherboard
  • Core i7 920 CPU

  • Asus EAH 4850
  • 750 GB Seagate Barracuda

Testing:

I will be running a benchmark test for both hardwired and through wireless. The Benchmarking tool I will be using today is called AIDA 32 which is a popular network benchmarking tool. I do not have any other wireless routers or dongles on hand at the new office so I will just run the benches so you can wee what speeds you can expect from these products.

Wireless

Unfortunately the benchmark tool doesn’t work for a Gigabit benchmark but at 100 we can see some very impressive through put while hardwire. Unfortunately you do lose considerable bandwidth through wireless but the case seems to balance the load on your PC a little better.

Conclusion:

I was impressed with the performance of both the router and the dongle for their price range. Although the throughput from the wireless dongle left something to be desired the overall performance was great I was able to leave the office building (which is cinderblock) and walk a block and a half before the signal was unusable this router and dongle combo could easily have the gain you need in order to service your yard and home with wireless.

Would I recommend these products? Yes, Trendnet products are incredible and these latest additions to their line are no exception. I was a long time user of Linksys but I must say as far as quality goes I suggest everyone should switch to Trendnet.

Pros:

  • 10/100/1000 is always a plus
  • Back word compatible
  • Price
  • I love the Black
  • Simple setup
  • Fast
Cons:
  • Would like to see better dongle throughput
