Testing:
To test the Verbatim 160GB USB Portable Hard Drive I will be putting it up against some other enclosures. The enclosures it will be put up against will be against the CP Technologies CP-USH-300 and CP-UE-225. I will use a free benchmarking tool called HD Tune, I will also use a stop watch to time the file transfers of three different sized files being, 10 MB, 100 MB, and 500 MB. HD Tune: | | CP-USH-300 | CP-UE-225 | Verbatim 160GB
| | Minimum (Mbps) | 24.0 | 24.0 | 27.2 | | Maximum (Mbps) | 32.3 | 32.6 | 32.4 | | Average (Mbps) | 31.2 | 31.2 | 28.8 | | Access Time (Ms) | 17.5 | 17.4 | 17.6 | | Burst Rate (Mbps) | 27.0 | 27.5 | 27.7 | | CPU Usage | 5.5% | 5.8% | 4% | File Transfers: | File Size | CP-USH-300 | CP-UE-225 | Verbatim 160GB | | 10 MB | 1 sec | 1 sec | 1 sec | | 100 MB | 5.5 sec | 8 sec | 4.5 sec | | 500 MB | 17 sec | 18 sec | 16.5 sec | From these tests we can see that all of the enclosures proved to work almost equally well. These tests are more to see if the enclosure itself has any flaws which we can see that the Verbatim 160GB USB Portable Hard Drive does not. We see that it might have had a lower minimum, and average transfer rates, but it led the pack in every other category. Now let’s get to my final thoughts:
