Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220vi Earbud, Headset Review

Music is one of the most euphoric and pleasant things this life has to offer. Bands like Radiohead believe music is a replacement for recreational drugs. I for one agree music can bring out mental pictures and feelings no drug could mimic and without the adverse effects. I am a major music junky otherwise known as audiophile I frequent several forums other then my own to find out all the info I can to get that “perfect sound” everyone is striving for. This information begs the question what does an audiophile use when he can’t drag his favorite cans and headphone amp around with them? This is where high quality earbuds and IEM’s come in to play Ultimate Ears is one such company with some very high end IEM’s and earbuds. Let’s see how their MetroFi 220vi Earbud’s do:

Closer Look:

The packaging for the MetroFi 220vi Earbuds is very well designed I love the floating earbuds effect it portraits. This is a great example of packaging it is simple but it shows the product off and the product itself is very well designed, I like seeing what I am buying I cannot stress that enough o any marketing professionals out there reading this. The packaging also includes some of the features but no specifications which I was disappointed with.

Included with the Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220vi Earbuds is a carrying case, 3 silicone flange sizes and manuals. I like the hard case idea for these, I don’t like cloth bags for a $100 of earbuds to get thrashed in my pocket.

Some of the more notable options to these Because these aren’t your average earbud the Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220vi Earbuds include an inline mic and a button for answering and hanging up calls and also skipping songs. Due to the high-end quality of these earbuds it is nice to see the inclusion of a gold plated connector for added connection quality which equals better sound quality.

I love the chrome look to the Ultimate Ears MetroFi 220vi Earbuds and color coded right and left is nice for those of us that usually end up rubbing off the painted on l and r soon after purchasing our earbuds and get a puzzled look on our face everytime we reach for them.

Let’s get to the specs and testing:
