Conclusion:
Fast and furious this little guy is. With the ability to connect with FireWire 800 this HD had some fast transfer speeds. The cross OS transfers worked without a hitch. The write and read speed were fairly decent. Not that it is very important for a external drive but it did look stylish and sleek. All in all a great external drive. I hate the fact that Lacie has cornered the Mac market for external HDD enclosures I am glad to see Seagate taking a much needed market share.

Would I recommend it? Yes. Seagate has always made well crafted good quality hard drives and this is no exception. If you need a fast reliable hard drive for you Mac I would say you should pick one up.

Pros:

  • Good read write speeds
  • Supports USB 2.0 and FireWire (optional 3.0)
  • Cross OS support
  • Modular Design

Cons:

  • None so far
