Conclusion:
I was impressed with the GTX 550 Ti. For the price bracket it is in it could perform fairly well.  In the entry or lower settings it did the best and produced a marginally less score in the mid range of settings. Most cards don't do well in the higher end settings and resolution but the 550 still made it through just fine. You should be able to play your games on a higher setting or screen but if you want optimal go mid or low if you want and you should be good to go. When you compare the card to the Radeon EAH6850 it does fairly well keeping up with it. The scores we got for the testing show that while it didn't beat the 6850 it did keep relatively close across all tests. That is something great to see for a $159 card. If you want to get some better results you can overclock it further. I did notice that the noise level was quiet and maintains a low temperature which is a big plus. I also hate it when my graphics card runs loud and distracts me from what I am doing.

A small thing that I liked about this card is the placement of the power connector which is side-mounted, helping to avoid potential space issues. Also they have included a standard VGA connection which is good since it is a lower price range card and people buying in this range might not have a monitor with a DVI connection. So this saves you from having to get an adapter.

So would I recommend the Asus GTX 550 Ti. Yeah I would, for the price it makes a great card. If you are looking for a mid priced card that can run decently the GTX 550 Ti direct CU Top will be the best you can do.

Pros:

  • Overclocked from the box
  • Quiet cooler under load
  • Good overclocking potential
  • Full size HDMI connector
  • DirectX 11 support
  • CUDA / PhysX support

Cons:

  •     Noisy idle
