Featured i5 661 Build Part One Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced 2 PC Case Review

We will be doing a featured build around the new Clarkdale i5 – 661 CPU from Intel. I decided to go with the Cooler Master CM 690 II for the chassis of choice for this new build. The reason being is that the Clarkdale chips are great for media and Gaming and I figured the black with blue LED that the Cooler Master CM 690 II  sports are a great choice. Not only do you get a sleek looking gaming rig but with a flip of the switch you get a beautiful media case without the bright blue LED’s. Let’s take a look at this beautiful new case from Cooler Master:

Testing Setup:

Although I had high hopes for my ability to access the back of the motherboard unfortunately just like the Scout I cannot remove my CPU cooler without removing the whole motherboard. It was a good try though, but that is probably my fault for sticking a mATX in a large mid-tower either way it isn’t big enough. The case itself is beautiful! I loved this case from the first time I laid eyes on it at CM’s Suite at CES. This case is by far one of the best cases I own it was so nice to work in with tons of room to run cables considering it is just a mid-tower. I was able to hide ALL my non modular powersupply wires without any issues.

Would I recommend this case? Yes, considering my only drawbacks are aftermarket cooler access and the new ATI cards not being able to fit this is another win from Cooler Master design team. Anytime you mix an all black chassis with blue LED’s you have a good chance of getting good grades on this site. I also love how the new CM cases come with a LED toggle so when you need it to be dark it can be dark this is why this cases is a featured part of my new i5 build and will probably stay on my list for my testing rigs until CM makes me a case that is just as awesome with the little quarks fixed.
