LiteOn External Top-Load DVD and CD Writer Review

Netbooks have changed the face on mobile computing. Being able to grab your netbook toss it is a bag and go anywhere and do a little work or research makes them a very likable gadget for students and very mobile business people. The downside from the beginning with the low profile miniature design of the netbooks is their lack of dvd drives, this made a lot of people resort to some bulky ugly external drives in order to have the functionality they needed to get the job done. That is until now; LiteOn has created a great alternative to frankistined 5.25 external drives, and even the lesser evil slim externals with its stylish new Top-Load DVD RW. This drive matches my aspire one and is just as mobile as my netbook. Let’s get a look at it and see if its right for you:

I have used several LiteOn products in the past and they have always been reliable. I have yet to have any of them go bad on me. Personally when I am buying ODD drives I go for either LG or LiteOn even though I do love just about everything Asus puts out I haven’t had the best experiences with theirs or BenQ’s ODD drive lines. The top-Loading feature is unique and a neat idea. In my opinion the less moving parts a product has the less there is to go wrong, that being said I believe the LiteOn Top-Load DVD RW will last much longer than a Slim drive or 5.25 external drive because of the lack of extra’s which in the end aren’t really that necessary.

Would I recommend the LiteOn Top-Load DVD RW? Well to replace your SATA internal drive I would say no but if you are looking for some netbook expansion, or your laptop slim drive pooched on you, then I strongly suggest getting this product. This product has everything you need to burn and read media straight out of the box and the included software is top notch.
