Trendnet 16-Port Compact Gigabit Switch TEG-S16R Review

Wireless networking is very appealing for most users these days. The convenience of internet and network access anywhere in your house is a luxury most fall in love with. There are the odd drawbacks to wireless over wired connections though. For one you do not have the same throughput as a gigabit connection and your security is more at risk through wireless as opposed to hard wired. What about those that have multiple network reliant devices. The good ol’ 4 or 5 port router just doesn’t cut it for them anymore they need serious connections throughout the whole house? This is where the simple to use Trendnet 16-Port Compact Gigabit Switch comes into play. Having more ports than you can shake a stick at and the speed of a gigabit connection you will be transferring files like a pro without worrying about outsiders viewing your personal information. Let’s get a closer look at this product and see how well it performs:

Due to my lack of a gigabit router I will be running the benchmark at 100mb. I will be hard wiring the master and slave through the Trendnet 16-Port Compact Gigabit Switch using my Seimens gateway as a DHCP server/router. The Benchmarking tool I will be using today is called AIDA 32.

The Trendnet 16-Port Compact Gigabit Switch works very well I had not disconnection issues the entire week I have been using it I have not been experiencing and ping loss or any other anomalies. Trendnet has made another fantastic product.

Overall the Trendnet 16-Port Compact Gigabit Switch performed very well it was extremely simple to set up and has both uses in a home or in an office situation. Performance was impressive over all and the ability to rack mount it is a great bonus.

Would I recommend this product? To your run of the mill user, no, but if you have a large number of devices or you are running an office and need some more ports the simplicity and ease of use of the Trendnet 16-Port Compact Gigabit Switch will be a perfect product for your situation.
