TRENDNET TEW-651BR Greennet Wireless N Router Review have caught a bad rap lately, and to be honest even though I am in the electronics industry even I can tell you there is no industry that leads to more waste than the electronics industry.  Not speaking in reference to the manufactures but more so of the end user.  Ask yourself this: how many pc’s, laptops, iPods, and TV’s have you been through in your life time? Some of you anti-technology people out there may be able to say one are two, but chances are most of you won’t be reading my site which is why I feel perfectly fine saying tree hugging hippies in several of my reviews. That being said I live in one of the most hippie rich cities in the world and to be honest I have nothing but love for environmentalists. If it wasn’t for the David Suzuki’s of the world we wouldn’t have the information about global warming we have today. Because of this mass paranoia we have a new “green movement” which is great! Honestly how many companies would bother going “green” if it wasn’t fashionable and gave you government breaks? Probably very few, one thing I will say about TRENDNET is this: their products have always been as environmentally friendly as an electronic device can get and as such they went one step further than just being RoHs compliant they have found ways to make their new Green net line of products even more…well, green! Let’s take a look at the new TRENDNET TEW-651BR Greennet Wireless N Router:

In order to test the TRENDNET TEW-651BR I decided to go into my basement with the router on the main floor and focus just on connectivity to the router rather than throughput We would previously use AIDA 32 for this test but since our change to Windows 7 64bit this made poor AIDA obsolete. I tested the TRENDNET TEW-651BR against the Dualband TEW-639GR from TRENDNET the reason of this test is to see what benifits there are to going full fledged dualband over standard wireless N. Here re the results:

Greennet TEW-651BR: 65Mbps at 5 Bars

Dualband TEW-639GR: 130Mbps 5 Bars

I have been using the TRENDNET TEW-651BR Greennet Wireless N Router for over a week now and I have been running download that cut out completely and do not resume if there is a break in the connection. Thankfully my ISP held out for this test but the TRENDNET TEW-651BR Greennet Wireless N Router stayed online for the entire time I had no drop outs or weird connection issues. My other dualband router I was using previously doesn’t have the ability to boast the same reliability. I have had to recycle the router almost daily but it is getting old and has been running for a long time so I can cut it some slack. Overall the TRENDNET TEW-651BR Greennet Wireless N Router performed great and it will be permanently replacing my old router.

Would I recommend this product? Yes, it was easy to setup and has a ton of functions. The only thing I liked with the previous TRENDNET router was the hard switch for the wireless. There are some very paranoid people out there that still think people are trying to steal their credit card numbers even if the wireless is disabled. I have had some interesting captain conspiracyesque customers in my shop in the past and having that switch made them feel all warm and fuzzy inside. So for every one else that is n ot wearing a tinfoil hat this should be a great router for you.
